Wednesday Science

Today is the start of our new Science topic - States of Matter.

A state of matter is anything that has a mass. These matters are either a solid, liquid or a gas.

An example of a solid is a brick, a liquid is water, a gas is the air that fills a balloon you blow up. Can you see any other materials around your home and decide which matter they are?

Activities:

  • Follow the link to the BBC Bitesize States of Matter Page. Watch the clip, complete the activities.
  • Sorting activity - can you sort the pictures into the correct groups?
  • If you have some cornflour in your cupboard have a go at mixing a small amount with water. What do you find? Is it a solid or liquid? or both?!
