This week we are baking a Christmas cake and so today in maths the children worked on their budgeting skills. They had a budget of £10.00 and using Asda’s website, they had to price up all the ingredients and ensure they didn’t exceed the budget by manually adding pence & pounds and figuring out the correct quantities to buy.

Today the children tested what material is best at keeping water warm.

They tested the following materials:

Ceramic mug
Glass
Polystyrene cup
Metal
Plastic
Cardboard

The children found that the best insulators for keeping the water hot was metal and the ceramic mug. While the worst insulator was plastic and polystyrene.
