Autumn 2

Maths: The children have a good knowledge of money, cost and value. We asked the children to calculate a Christmas shopping list with a budget of £100. We have also continued to work on additions up to the value of 1000, using hundreds, tens and ones.

We have made the most of the seasonal festivals and held a class Halloween party. The children really enjoyed playing the traditional game of apple bobbing, mummy wrap Theraplay and sensory based play.

Guy Fawkes, Bonfire night; Gave us the chance to discuss Bonfire night safety in PSHE and make fireworks out of fruit and sparklers with chocolate and sprinkles.

We contributed lanterns to our Remembrance garden at the front of school. We had veterans visit our school and go to each class to answer some questions. We also completed 2 minute silence as a whole school.

Ms Longworth brought her tortoise into class for a visit.

Science; We have been learning about human growth, parts of the body, our digestive system and our teeth.

English: We used Halloween as our baseline to create a spooky story. Over a period of lessons we discussed sights, sounds and feelings helping the children understand adjectives, set their scene and choose main characters.
