Science at Willow Grove

At Willow Grove we encourage our children to ask questions about their time and experiences in school and out of school.  Our Science curriculum provides opportunities for children to develop a sense of awe and wonder and also develop a healthy curiosity in children about the world around them.  

Our Science curriculum follows the Grammarsaurus Science Curriculum, providing a carefully sequenced programme that develops pupils’ knowledge and understanding across biology, chemistry and physics. Children are encouraged to be curious about the world around them, ask questions and develop their understanding through practical investigations and different types of scientific enquiry. Throughout their learning, pupils develop their ability to work scientifically, including to observe, predict, test, classify, record and draw conclusions, while building a rich scientific vocabulary and making connections between concepts. The curriculum also helps children understand the uses and implications of science in the world today and for the future. 

Be Safe: We use scientific equipment responsibly, follow safety instructions and make sensible choices when carrying out investigations.

Be Kind: We work collaboratively, listen to different ideas and respect the people, animals and environments we investigate.

Be Positive: We are curious scientists who ask questions, embrace challenges and learn from what our investigations tell us.

For us here at Willow Grove, "Science is everything" and we want to foster a life-long love of science and a curiosity in the world around us in all our pupils.

Science At Home

We have launched a "padlet" with all things science for you to be able to access at home, and share with your children. The content is curated specifically for our children - with links to science online, interactive sites, and ideas of places you can go to explore science at home. 
The Padlet is a great way to bridge the gap between what your children are learning about in school and at home. Science is everything we do, and here at Willow Grove we want to make it as easy and simple as possible to encourage your children to engage with the subject.
