PSHE at Willow Grove

At Willow Grove, PSHE is delivered through a nurturing, relationship-centred approach that recognises each child’s individual needs while maintaining high aspirations for their future. Our curriculum is carefully aligned with National Curriculum objectives and is designed to prepare pupils for life as confident, responsible citizens in an ever-changing world.

Our Jigsaw PSHE curriculum supports children to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to thrive both in school and in their wider lives. It follows a progressive, spiral approach, with six key themes revisited and developed each year: Being Me in My World, Celebrating Difference, Dreams and Goals, Healthy Me, Relationships and Changing Me. Through these themes, children develop their emotional literacy, resilience, self-awareness and understanding of healthy relationships, while learning how to make safe, respectful and responsible choices. Jigsaw also incorporates mindfulness, helping children to recognise and manage their thoughts and feelings and develop positive relationships with themselves and others.

Be Safe: We learn how to look after our physical and emotional wellbeing, recognise risks and make safe and healthy choices.

Be Kind: We respect ourselves and others, celebrate our differences and build positive, caring and inclusive relationships.

Be Positive: We believe in ourselves, set goals, learn from challenges and develop the confidence and resilience to achieve our potential.

Wellbeing and Nature

Jigsaw have partnered with Forestry England to provide a series of Nature and Wellbeing Activity Pack that you can use at home to encourage your children to spend time outdoors and find different ways to improve their mental health and wellbeing using nature.

Water Safety Resources

As part of our PSHE offer, every summer we ensure our children are taught about water safety.
