At Willow Grove, PSHE is delivered through a nurturing, relationship-centred approach that recognises each child’s individual needs while maintaining high aspirations for their future. Our curriculum is carefully aligned with National Curriculum objectives and is designed to prepare pupils for life as confident, responsible citizens in an ever-changing world.
Through a carefully planned spiral curriculum, pupils revisit and build upon key concepts over time, equipping them with the skills to form and sustain positive relationships, manage their physical and mental health, and develop the knowledge needed to become financially capable adults. We support children to understand risk, make informed choices, and keep themselves safe in a wide range of real-life situations.
PSHE lessons also provide a safe space for pupils to debate topical issues and engage in philosophical discussion, helping them to appreciate that others may hold different viewpoints. By valuing difference and diversity, we empower our children to develop empathy, respect, and a strong sense of belonging, enabling them to play a positive role in the wider world.
Across the school we have the theme, but this is built upon their understanding each year.

As part of our PSHE offer, every summer we ensure our children are taught about water safety.
You can find resources here to help you discuss water safety with your child on our water safety PADLET.
