Equality Objectives 2025

Willow Grove Primary School Equality Objectives Statement 2025

Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) Compliance

As part of our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, Willow Grove Primary School is dedicated to upholding the principles set out in the Equality Act 2010 and the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011.

Each year, we review and update our practices to ensure we are meeting the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) by:

1. Eliminating Discrimination: We actively work to eliminate discrimination, harassment, and victimisation within our school community by implementing robust policies and providing ongoing staff training. We have a Dignity at Work Policy and a Whistleblowing Policy in place, to support the elimination of discrimination as well as to allow members of the school community to raise any concerns that they may have in relation to discriminatory practices.

2. Advancing Equality of Opportunity: We strive to remove or minimise disadvantages, meet the diverse educational and emotional needs of our pupils and ensure that all pupils have equal opportunities to succeed.

3. Fostering Good Relations: We promote understanding and mutual respect among all members of our school community. Through various initiatives, we encourage positive interactions and celebrate diversity. More details around these initiatives can be found in our weekly Newsletters, as well as on our school website and via Class DoJo.

Willow Grove's Equality Objectives

Our equality objectives are reviewed and updated at least once every four years, in accordance with the Equality Act 2010: advice for schools. Our current objectives are as follows:

Objective 1: Enhance Accessibility:

Continuously improve the school learning environment to support the educational and emotional needs of all pupils.

Objective 2: Promote and deliver an Inclusive Curriculum:

Develop and implement a curriculum that reflects and celebrates the diversity of our school community. Ensure that all teaching materials are inclusive and represent diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

Objective 3: Support Mental Health and Well-being:

Provide comprehensive support for the mental health and well-being of all pupils and staff. This includes access to counselling services, supervision, mental health education, and well-being initiatives. More information can be found on our Mental Health and Well-being website page.

Objective 4: Engage with Families and Communities:

Strengthen partnerships with families and the wider community to promote equality and inclusion. We will continue to encourage active participation from all stakeholders in school activities and decision-making processes.

Objective 5: Monitor and Evaluate Progress:

Regularly assess the effectiveness of our equality objectives and initiatives. Use data and feedback from parents/carers, children and staff to inform continuous improvement and ensure that our actions are making a positive impact.

Publishing Obligations

In line with the Equality Act 2010: advice for schools, we publish our equality objectives and details of our compliance with the public sector equality duty. This information is updated annually and made available on our school website.

By adhering to these principles and working on these objectives, Willow Grove Primary School is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive and meet their full potential, regardless of their starting point.
