Our specialist school caters to pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). This is a tremendous opportunity for mainstream teachers with a proven record in school for supporting children with behaviour that can be challenging, or a teacher with a background in specialist provision. Willow Grove Primary School has adopted strong attachment and trauma-informed practices (ATP) as the basis for working with its pupils and we are looking to further develop our team with staff who have knowledge in this area.

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher who can:

  • Plan, deliver and assess tailored lessons to meet the diverse needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Create a trauma informed safe, stimulating and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, parents/carers, and external agencies.
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt strategies as necessary

Personal Qualities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Experience of working in a school setting with children with SEN
  • Strong behaviour management and differentiation skills.
  • A patient, empathetic and resilient approach to teaching.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • High aspirations for all learners
  • High standards in their own professional conduct
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding children
  • Specialism in outdoor learning or PE provision is desirable but not essential.

Interviews will consist of a 30-minute observation, followed by a 10-minute unseen presentation and an interview. Visits to the school are strongly recommended. There will be a group visit at 8am and 3pm on 7th September. Please email enquiries@admin.willowgrove.wigan.sch.uk to book a place. If this is not convenient, please contact the school to arrange an alternative time and date.

Pease contact the school office to arrange. If you require any further information, please contact the school on 01942 727 717.

All appointments are made in accordance with safer recruitment practices and the statutory guidance in Keeping Children Safe in Education.

Online checks will be carried out on all shortlisted candidates, and all appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and checks regarding suitability to work with children.
