Being different

We will look at what we understand as normal as well as how a disability could affect someone’s life.

We will work hard to try to see what we all have in common (through discussion and play)so that we can work well together.

Computing

 

The use of Powerpoint and Photopeach presentations-researching a topic, finding appropriate text and pictures and producing a good piece.

This half term also includes being able to communicate respectfully in E-Safety lessons.

Heroes

Super heroes- (villains)

Beech will look at the qualities of real life heroes who have a positive impact on those around them.

We will look at what it means to be a hero and will focus on certain real heroes in everyday life-such as soldiers, police, fire service and doctors/nurses.

Also- creation of our own super-heroes based on what we would like to be able to do.

Spanish

 

To look at how they celebrate Christmas in Spain-including their traditions and learn the related vocabulary.

 

Music

 

This history of the race for the Christmas number 1 and the learning and performing of our chosen song for the Community Christmas (including playing instruments).

PE

 

Gymnastics

PE will be delivered by a sports coach and we focus on how we travel, balance, jumps and rolls and keeping ourselves safe on the equipment.

Food chains-

To see how each living thing is a part of a system which include them being either food or prey or even both and the importance and effect they have on each other.

RE

 

Religious celebrations

 

To look at the various celebrations in different religions from this time of year and the origins behind them.

Also, the symbols and how decorations represent parts of the ‘stories’ being celebrated.

 

The questions that we will explore are:

  • What does justice and injustice mean?
  • What is poverty?
  • What is a hero?
  • Who is your hero?
  • Why can people’s eye and hair colour be different to their parents?
  • What would my super power be and why?

You could help your child by:

  • Reading with your child
  • Discuss their learning with them
  • Take them to the library to access books linked with our work
  • Talk about your Christmas experiences as a child- compare to theirs now.
